Your Story
My goal is to sit with you in your experience and empower you to heal. I believe that sometimes therapy can seem like a quick fix, when in reality, oftentimes healing requires a deep presence and validation of your story. It can involve unraveling what brought you here, and tending to whatever hurt that remains. It can be a hard journey to walk on your own, so I am here to walk through it with you.
Experience and Credentials
I graduated from Liberty university with my BS in Psychology, and my MA in Counseling Psychology from the Seattle School of Theology. The Seattle School has a focus on treating trauma from a holistic lens. They focus on asking the complex, hard questions involving religion, trauma, race and gender. I learned to sit with the hard questions, forced to sit with the hard parts in my own story, so that I could sit with others.
During my undergraduate degree, I gained experience as an intern as a crisis case manager in a non-profit for homeless and at-risk youth. For my graduate degree internship I counseled at a non-profit organization for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors, where my goal was to empower survivors of abuse.
Interventions
At the Seattle School, I trained in a relationally-based psychodynamic modality. However, I will use more behaviorally based modalities such as CBT, psychodynamic interventions focus on identifying themes and patterns from your experience to determine the root of a recurring symptom. I will give you tools to manage and cope with your symptoms, and our work together can be deeply relieving because we are addressing the hurt behind the symptoms.
As we experience harm in our lives, our nervous system can become dysregulated and get “stuck” into feeling like you are in danger. I work with clients to regulate their nervous systems with grounding exercises to make their nervous system feel safe again. Dysregulation contributes to many symptoms such as anxiety, troubles sleeping, reactivity, and anger management issues.
Issues I can address
I have experience working with the LGBTQIA+ community, religious trauma, spirituality, teens, domestic violence and sexual assault clients. I can help clients work through symptoms like trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, LGBTQIA+ concerns, religious concerns, abuse and more.
My goal is to help clients feel regulated, grounded, feel true to themselves and feel confident in making empowering decisions.
