Mary Lopez, LPC

I graduated from Lewis & Clark College-Professional Mental Health Counseling-Addictions in 2014. I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon since November 2022. I have a lifetime of experiences working with diverse cultures internationally and here in the Portland area. This has given me invaluable insight into how our backgrounds contribute to our own unique stories and how we find healing and meaning in our life. For about 8 years, I have worked as both a child/family therapist and an adult therapist focusing on trauma across the life span. I work primarily with older teens and young adults.

My approach to counseling is interactive in style and eclectic, including Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I use warmth, humor, creativity, and a direct but gentle approach in helping clients find ways to heal. Sessions can include using art, metaphors, humor, and journaling/writing. Trauma informed care is important to me and that includes helping the client to feel empowered in having your own voice  the therapeutic process.

My diversity of experiences lends towards a compassionate stance with clients who are trying to navigate difficult life circumstances. Together we can work on your goals, gain skills, and create a new happier and healthier path forward.
